Today I drove to work in a winter wonderland...sorry I didn't take a photo of that...my photo is of what was left of the snow shower covering the dead iris mound when I got home. I use to despise Winter...then I learned to tolerate it...I've now reached the point of appreciation, but I'd be hard pressed to say that I love it.
Well on second thought, I do love the fact that Winter ushers in Spring. And, love the way that it makes me slow down. More evenings spent at home, more time to snuggle, read, write, and do all of the things that you neglect when the sun is high early in the day and beckoning you outdoors.
Oh and there is a crispness in the air that feels so sweet when you inhale it deep into your lungs. It's a time for hot soup, long hot baths soaking in your favorite scent and lots of epsom salt (to keep your skin deliciously smooth), hot tea, hot coco, oh and hot crackling fires raging in the fireplace.
Of course the best programing is always on in the Winter. The best movies are on HBO and Showtime and when your not catching up on good TV your catching up with good friends, because they want to stay in and out of the cold too. WOW
Today I am thankful for Winter. It is an exercise in rejuvenation for the Soul. Short days, long nights, little light bring a stillness to our lives like no other time of the year.
