Using tools to spruce up, clean up, and pretty up your home is the smartest way to get the job done. If you want to hang that beautiful new original piece from your favorite artist, chances are a hammer and nails will do the trick. You cannot just stand by and wish it on the wall or use your fist to the wedge the nail in….yea that would be stupid.
The same reasoning rings true in our attempts to tidy up our thoughts. If your mind houses a monkey, as does mine, you know that you not only need tools, but also tricks of the trade to, as a good friend of mine always says, “Get your mind right!”
My monkeys were having a rambunctious go of it today. I could barely concentrate from all the crazy noise running around. I tried my smile technique of the day before, but found that that particular tool was not really what I needed for today’s job. In other words, I had to throw it back into the ole toolbox.
Taking a break, I spent some time chatting with a friend. She too was experiencing my troubles of yesterday, attempting to block out unwanted noise at work. Unfortunately for her, she shares office space, making it more difficult to accomplish this task. My first thought, thank GOD I have my own office! My second thought was, “What can you do with unpleasant sounds that are constantly bombarding?” My vision was of a tuning fork being struck and imagining the sound waves, the vibrations, moving outward bringing tones into harmony and that made me smile!
It takes many tools, as well as, tricks of the trade to mold our homes, our minds into the beautiful places we know they are underneath.
Today I am thankful for tools. Ingenuity and openness allows you to access them every and anywhere.
